This album is very much a studio project.
Live performance is about tricks
and showmanship and in the recording session can often be a little dry in
comparison. Care has been taken to maintain a live, concert-ish feel to all the tracks.
Having recorded in many major studios, it was decided for this project that
a residential house in Naremburn, Australia be fitted out specifically for the
purpose.
The latest Digital Audio Workstations, computer modelling and
recording technologies were deployed. Everything was recorded, edited and
mixed on-site. That is not to say that traditional recording techniques were
not used ... quite the contrary.
All the tracks have the seasoned organ and/or piano skills of Jeff Morris,
my long time keys player on them. That classic combination of organ and
strat is so much a defining feature in my compositional style.
It was an absolute pleasure to do those vocal and guitar takes without a
strict studio regime or pressing time constraints.
It’s all about the music after all and that’s how it should be.
